Almost Famous is a celebration of the hell the stars went through before they hit the big time. Wall to wall archive with comedy voice over from Alex Zane

Reason for submission in English (up to 150 words):

Almost Famous was a labour of love to those involved. Sourced from a vast number of archives and individuals (including "Mick the Biker") the footage not only had to be relevant but revealing. For the programme to work, there needed to be a high quotient of the jaw-drop factor. The team achieved this admirably, creating a great combination of comedy and surprise

Brief Synopsis in English (up to 100 words):

The Story of the Comedy Song is a 90 minute documentary which traces the modern history of this criminally overlooked genre of popular music from the birth of the pop charts in 1952 to its reinvention in the new millennium. On this epic journey we discover that George Martin was the missing link between the Goons and the Beatles, the Barron Knights invented the parody song and that the Two Ronnies weren’t big fans of Not the Nine O’Clock News. Almost everyone appears in the comedy song’s chequered history of peaks and troughs. From the sixties satire boom to the golden period in the 70s of Monty Python and Billy Connolly and even in the wilderness years of novelty naffness in the 80s which found redemption in alternative comedy and Victoria Wood. Contributors include Victoria Wood & Alexei Sayle

Reason for submission in English (up to 150 words):

This is a very archive rich documentary relying heavily on rarely seen footage to tell it's story. It is highly informative in an extremely entertaining way and illustrates the birth of the comedy song into popular culture.

Footage Farm

Brief Synopsis in English (up to 100 words):

A primer for capitalism, Silly Money shows that while money makes the world go round, it also makes it go pear-shaped. The power of money is behind many of the world’s current problems. It has never been more powerful. It has never been less understood, even by those whose job it is to understand it. Bremner, Bird and Fortune offer a four part satirical look at a system which is both astonishingly sophisticated, and astonishingly stupid.

Reason for submission in English (up to 150 words):

Footage was comprised of news and old public information films used to seamlessly punctuate, illustrate and inform viewers about current and extremely changeable economic conditions. Archive was an integral part of each programme helping the team to argue the point that monetary history has not just repeated itself once, but over and over again.

Brief Synopsis in English (up to 100 words):

The story of the British Sunday as told by comedian Sean Lock. Wall to wall archive with comedy voice over, the programme is a tribute to a world of window shopping, lunchtime strippers, meeting the relatives - in short, the mind-numbing boredom Sunday could once offer.

Reason for submission in English (up to 150 words):

The production was tasked with coming up with unusual footage, archive which hadn't been seen before. They came up with 60' of rivetting, funny and bizarre examples of Sundays past which manage to conjure up a past life that seemed both familiar and alien. Working closely with the comedy team, the production created a truly unique take on Sundays and archive programming

Brief Synopsis in English (up to 100 words):

The Most Annoying Couples is an unmissable countdown of the nation's favourite 'annoying couples', from Amy & Blake to Peaches & Pixie, Chris & Gwynnie to Lembit & his cheeky girl. It is an hilarious but affectionate look at the world of the smug marrieds we obsess over, the warring lovebirds we watch everyday and the inseparable duos that we just can't get enough of.

Reason for submission in English (up to 150 words):

The Most Annoying Couples is a brilliant example of how to make a list show in a very entertaining & highly creative way regarding how archive is used and sourced. The challenges faced by the archive researchers are numerous given the difficult title with which to work miracles and they do.

Brief Synopsis in English (up to 100 words):

A panel quiz show with host Marcus Brigstocke who presides over 2 panels led by comedians Lee Hurst and Dominic Holland. Each week we see Lee and Dom joined by different guest experts from the world of science & nature academia. The quiz has four rounds in which our teams look at archive and experiments in the studio with scientist Dr. Chris Smith to answer questions on science and the natural world.

Reason for submission in English (up to 150 words):

The archive based rounds in the show were extremely unique in that the archive was fundamental to the questions. In particular the "Timebomb" round was especially challenging for the archive researchers as all the footage needed to show action in real time, with no editing and had to be at least 90 seconds duration. A much harder find than might be expected.
