Brief Synopsis in English (up to 100 words):

Ben Rogers seemed to have everything – a bright boy with a good education and a loving family. But in the summer of 2006, Ben checked himself into hospital in a desperate final attempt to kick his 13 year addiction to heroin. He died the next day, leaving behind over 40 hours of intimate home movies and video diaries that he’d been filming over the last two years of his life. This shocking, raw and unflinching film finishes what Ben began, telling the story of one addict’s desperate struggle against addiction and the impact it had on one middle class family.

Reason for submission in English (up to 150 words):

Ben Rogers wanted to make a film 'to show you my life'. His raw and unflinching footage reveals a man at war with himself and a family struggling through the frustration and horror of watching their brother and son brought down by his heroin addiction. Director Olly Lambert re-works Ben’s footage and interviews those he filmed, in an attempt to finish what Ben began. It was an extremely difficult process piecing together extremely dark moments in Ben’s life, including those shot just hours before his death – to create a narrative that tells his story sensitively, with respect to his family.  Ben’s family are using this film to campaign in the fight against drugs abuse.

Brief Synopsis in English (up to 100 words):

Marseille, Tuesday October 9, 1934. King Alexander I of Yugoslavia arrives in the Port of Marseille for an official visit to France. Several minutes later, he is shot point-black – killed by a Croatian nationalist opposed to his regime. The close up filming of an assassination was a first in the history of cinema. The footage revealed serious lapses in security. Why so many? Why were the cameramen able to get so close to film the dying king? What became of their footage?
