The FOCAL International Awards, presented in association with AP Archive, celebrate achievement in the use of footage in all variety of genres, across all media platforms plus its restoration. Producers, filmmakers and other creative professionals who have used library footage in a documentary, feature film or any other form of production over the last year are encouraged to submit their work for consideration. Awards for best archive researcher, library and restoration work are also up for grabs.
These awards are, without doubt, the leading and most complete set of awards for the archive footage business in the world today. We celebrate the best use of footage material in all variety of genre, across all media platforms and also recognise the researchers, technicians and producers that access, maintain and use this precious resource.
The most recent gala dinner and awards presentation ceremony, was held 26 May 2016 at the Lancaster London Hotel hosted by Kate Adie, the former Chief News Reporter for the BBC and current presenter of From Our Own Correspondent on BBC Radio 4. It's a great evening starting with a sparkling reception sponsored by AP Archive which begins at 6.15pm with the call for dinner at 6.45pm. The sit down 3 course meal is attended by leading professionals in the archive industry and allied post-production services. There's plenty of time for networking at the after party also sponsored by AP Archive! The evening ends at 1am. Dress is formal, black tie/evening dress. Strictly no jeans!
