The Cold War's wildest dreams of climate control have made a spectacular comeback: from the USA to China, "geo-engineers" promise to make climate change the way we want. And they have found powerful supporters among lobbyists and entrepreneurs. This film is an investigation into the world-wide boom in geo-engineering. How did a pseudo-science with a controversial past become a planet-wide research subject? How did crack-pot academics turn into respected and even courted figures? How can we keep "rogue states" from staking their all in dangerous experiments? And will we really have any choice?
"Clockwork Climate" is the first documentary to feature extensively archive material on the history of climate manipulation since WWII. A team of researchists in France the US and Russia have gathered footage and stills from over 35 international archive sources. Rare footage from the Museum of Innovation and Science show the first experiments on clouds in laboratories. US and Soviet military archives reveal forgotten atmospheric experiments during the Cold War. The available 35mm copies of our sources have been transferred to HD as part of this production. Our footage research has been conducted with the support of a team of journalists for factual background, and with advice from historians of science (also interviewed in the film). INDIA's DAUGHTER is the story of the short life, brutal gang rape and murder in Delhi of an exceptional and inspiring young woman in Delhi, December 2012. Interwoven into the story line are the lives, values and mindsets of the rapists whom the filmmakers have had exclusive and unprecedented access to interview before they hang. The film examines the culture of rape and violence against women that exists in India and throughout the world and makes an optimistic and impassioned plea for change.
When we look at the worldwide statistics of rape and violence against women in general, needless to say India comes off pretty badly. But I think it is important to bear in mind that this is by no means an India-centric problem. Far from it. Patriarchy, discrimination against, and devaluation of women is rife the world over. To have this film shown in countries around the world is important to bring to light the problem of gender inequality we face in every country.
The Queen of Ireland is a 2015 Irish documentary film directed by Conor Horgan. It focuses on Rory O'Neill, better known as Panti (a drag queen and gay activitist), in the lead up to the historic referendum on marriage equality for same-sex couples in Ireland. When the film debuted in Ireland, it had the highest ever grossing opening weekend for an Irish documentary.
This programme while it has an irish backdrop is a universal story. The archive in this production has been used to weave together a monumental moment in social history. Over the last few years Rory has become a figurehead for LGBT rights in Ireland and since the recent scandal around 'Pantigate', his fight for equality and against homophobia has become recognised across the world. The Queen of Ireland is a documentary film that follows Rory's journey from the small Mayo town of Ballinrobe to striding the world stage
