FOCAL INTERNATIONAL FORGES NEW LINKS AT MIPCOM

Around sixty FOCAL International members and new contacts enjoyed a reception on Phil Slater Associates' booth at the recent MIPCOM trade show.

"The FOCAL reception was one of the many highlights of the exhibition," said FOCAL's Commercial Manager, Anne Johnson, "Thanks to the generosity of WPA's Nicola Goelzhaeuser we were able to bring together many buyers and sellers of footage over an informal drink."

"Our schedule of meetings was particularly productive with several leading footage archives including Brazil's Globo TV, Sandra Carter Productions, Passport International Productions and Media Entertainment Group showing a keen interest in FOCAL membership," said FOCAL's General Manager, Julie Lewis.

"What really helped on this occasion was having the new FOCAL Members Directory and samples of the re-designed FOCAL website to show prospective members," she continued, "MIPCOM is also a great place to meet programme producers, so we used the opportunity to tell them about FOCAL's Footage Finder on the website for quick access to clips."

"We spoke to as many producers and library sales managers as possible and encouraged them to submit entries for the forthcoming FOCAL International Awards. It's open to anyone throughout the world - but they must get them in before 9th January 2004," added Anne Johnson.
