Film Restoration
Before restoration work begins we assess the elements you have to ensure that you are using the best possible materials available and to design the optimum workflow for your project. Film is then physically examined, damaged joins repaired and ultrasonically cleaned to remove surface dirt and dust. The reels are finally transferred and graded to HD using DFT's Spirit, or scanned directly to HD or 2K file using DFT's Scanity.

Digital Restoration
Once captured into the digital world files are fully graded and the restoration process takes place. For this we use a combination of Pixel Farm's PF Clean, a non-destructive non-linear package that contains a full set of metadata tools to handle dirt, dust, scratches, warps, tears and flicker, Cinnafilm's Dark Energy (Relativity) for ultimate grain and noise management and HS Art's DustBuster for manual dirt removal. New titles, credit sequences and graphics are re-created to match the look and feel of the originals.

Video Restoration
We work with the major legacy formats including 1", U-matic, BetaSP and D3. Our colourists have access to research and development tools including a PAL transform decoder. This unit is unique to BBC S&PP, separating PAL encoded luminance and chrominance signals delivering almost a complete absence of cross-colour and cross-lumance artefacts. This combined with realtime DVNR and CEDAR de-noise units guarantees outstanding results every time.
