Well
I guess I've seen about everything
when I see an elephant swim!
A swimming elephant is probably not
the first thing you'd expect to find
when hitting the beach in Thailand
.
Although not natural swimmers, in
the sense that they swim for fun,
elephants will swim when they have
to and use their trunk as a snorkel.
Despite their size they can move in
the water with a certain grace and
indeed this skill is used by some
working animals as part of the timber
trade on SE Asian islands.
Wildlife cameraman Gil Arbel recently
shot some stunning footage of an elephant
swimming in the Gulf of Thailand.
