ALWYN LINDSEY APPOINTED MANAGING
DIRECTOR OF ITN ARCHIVE
Alwyn Lindsey has been appointed Managing
Director of ITN Archive. He has been
Sales Director of ITN Archive for
over four years, during which time
ITN Archive's annual turnover has
more than doubled and continues to
achieve double-digit growth.
Alwyn has led a successful drive
to grow the ITN Archive business by
expanding its range of collections
and has recently signed deals to manage
the sales businesses of British Pathe
and Channel 4. His appointment reflects
ITN's ambition to become the world's
leading source of archive footage.
ITN Archive is already the world's
biggest commercial video news archive.
ITN Chief Executive Mark Wood said:
"Alwyn's appointment as Managing
Director recognises the enormous contribution
he has made to turning the ITN Archive
into our fastest growing business.
I have every confidence that Alwyn
and his team can now build a global
business which will be a substantial
contributor to ITN's revenue and profits."
On his appointment Alwyn said: "This
is a hugely exciting time for the
business. We have a proven track record
of unlocking the commercial potential
of other archives and I'm looking
forward to securing further content
partnerships in the near future. At
the same time, we'll be looking to
further expand our overseas business
and to develop our sales in market
sectors outside of TV".

NOTES TO EDITORS
ITN Archive represents one of Europe's
few successful models for converting
"intellectual property"
into a viable business with a robust
revenue stream. The ITN Archive is
the world's largest commercial video
news archive. It contains over 500,000
hours of archive material, dating
from the coronation of Tsar Nicholas
II in 1896 to the Iraq war 2003.
It includes ITN output since 1955,
together with the entire Reuters television
archive and historic newsreels, including
British Paramount News, Empire News
Bulletin, Universal News, Gaumont
Graphic and Gaumont British. Earlier
this year ITN took on the management
of the British Pathe news archive.
Last year, ITN also made its first
move into the non-news archive business
through management of the entire Channel
4 clips archive. In March 2003 ITN
Archive added a further five collections
with deals to manage Airtime Television
News, Sam Silver Films, Images of
War, Open Media and Tinseltown Entertainment.
ITN Archive has specialist international
sales offices in London, New York,
Los Angeles, Tokyo and Johannesburg.
