Clips & Footage Now Representing Historic Films in the UK

1 September 2007

We are delighted to announce that Clips & Footage is now representing Historic Films in the UK with immediate effect.

In addition to thousands of hours of feature films, documentaries, newsreels and industrial films to complement our own material, we can now offer a stunning collection of music performance and related material.

One of the many highlights of the library is the Ed Sullivan Show with notorious performances from The Doors and The Rolling Stones to name a few. There is also Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert series featuring fabulous performances by Black Sabbath, The Eagles and Bob Marley; an important small library of television programmes from the 60s featuring performances by The Supremes, The Ronettes, The Drifters, Mary Wilson and The Righteous Brothers to name a few. There is colour material from the same library with amazing performance footage of The Doors, Richie Havens and Aretha Franklin.

This doesn’t even begin to cover the carefully acquired American folk, country and gospel material, the jazz and blues collections and even opera footage.

Beyond the performance collections there is unique and important material showing Afro-American lifestyles of the 20s, 30s and 40s which offer a rare glimpse of juke joints, blues bars and street life.

We are thrilled to have also bagged Jenny Hammerton, who has worked with the Historic Collection at Film Images for five years. Jenny will be joining Clips & Footage in September. For those few who don’t know her, Jenny is a dynamic film archivist with over twelve years’ experience in a wide range of demanding roles within leading film archives.
