Football 4th, 5th & 6th November FA Cup 1st Round Proper

November sees the return of the world’s best-loved knockout cup competition, The FA Cup…

The first round pairs the qualifiers from the non-league against League One and League Two teams. The reputation of The Cup means anything could happen, and this year’s first round draw has the potential for many upsets. Former European Champions, Nottingham Forest, take on Conference South side, Weymouth, at the City Ground, while Midland Alliance League club, Chasetown, host Oldham Athletic.

Football Week of 28th November Carling Cup – Last 16

The Football League’s knockout competition, The Carling Cup, reaches the final stages with a number of all-Premiership ties. The draw is as follows:

Bolton Wanderers v Leicester City
Manchester United v West Bromwich Albion
Doncaster Rovers v Aston Villa
Arsenal v Reading
Wigan Athletic v Newcastle United
Charlton Athletic v Blackburn Rovers
Middlesbrough v Crystal Palace

Football 16th November Australia V Uruguay – World Cup 2006 Qualifying Play-Off, Second Leg

In a replay of the World Cup 2002 qualifying play-off, Australia take on Uruguay for a place in Germany 2006. This time Australia will look to avenge the defeat of 2002 and qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1974. With this second leg at the Telstra Stadium, Sydney and a host of European based stars in the Australian squad such as Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka and Marco Bresciano, this game should be an exciting and passionate spectacle with everything to play for.

Tennis 26th – 27th November Aberdeen Cup (Scotland v England)

Teenage tennis sensation Andy Murray will line-up against GB Davis Cup partner and former British no.1 Greg Rusedski, as part of a Scotland versus England team challenge in Aberdeen this month.

The inaugural Aberdeen Cup will take the form of a two-day, Davis Cup style match at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference centre.

England’s Home World Cup 2006 Qualifiers:

Octagon CSI can provide footage of all England’s home World Cup qualifiers from David Beckham’s wonder goal in the 2 – 0 defeat of Wales at Old Trafford to Frank Lampard’s sweet volley against Poland securing England’s passage to Germany 2006.

Football League – Update

The race to the Premiership is fully underway with Sheffield United topping the Coca-Cola Championship. Neil Warnock’s ‘Blades’ have impressed with a blend of youth and experience throughout the team. For so long the South Yorkshire club have been close to Championship success, could this be their year? In second place is Reading, whose summer purchase of Leroy Lita has made the difference in their season. The striker’s spectacular goals have been vital to his team’s success as well as entertaining the crowds in this action packed division.

SANZAR Tri-Nations 2005:

After six weeks of superb rugby, New Zealand were crowned Tri-Nations champions for 2005 after their 34-24 win over Australia in Auckland. Contact Octagon CSI if you require any footage of this enthralling championship series.

British Superbikes – Season 2005:

This year’s compelling British Superbike Championship was decided in the final race of the season at Brands Hatch. Gregorio Lavilla from Tarragona, Spain riding the Airwaves Ducati, won the title ahead of Japan’s Ryuichi Kiyonari. This was a season that captivated not only record attendances at the country’s leading circuits, but also thrilled millions of armchair viewers who followed the fortunes of the riders on television with Octagon CSI’s extensive coverage.

Gravity Games – H2O:

More than 55,000 thrill-seeking spectators and 110 of the world’s biggest names in action sport took gravity to the extreme at the 2005 Gravity Games H2O, which concluded in Perth, Western Australia. Held on the Swan River, the four day event included Wakeboarding, Kiteboarding and a new event, Thundercats freestyle powerboating and involved 110 top-ranked professional athletes from 14 countries.

The highlight of the competition took place in the women’s Kiteboarding event where an 11-year-old superstar from Spain – Gisela Pulido – surged well ahead of competitors to claim the championship title.

England V Australia – 2005 Ashes Series

With England currently touring Pakistan, re-live the amazing summer of cricket with England’s dramatic 2-1 Ashes series win over Australia. Contact Octagon Archive for any of this unforgettable test series.

Matt Wills – Head of Acquisitions & Restoration (A&R)

Matt joined Octagon CSI at the beginning of September to initiate and oversee all A&R projects. Matt previously worked for TWI where he managed the A&R function for clients including the International Olympic Committee, The All England Lawn Tennis Club, The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and Tennis Australia. Matt’s work at TWI has led to many culturally and historically important film collections being discovered and restored to their former glory.
