The Image
Network helps companies fill digital
skills gap
Although working with digital images
offers enormous advantages, many companies
are sorely lacking in the skills needed
to make the enterprise profitable.
The Image Network has noticed an increasing
demand for in-house training amongst
publishers and picture libraries,
as they struggle to understand the
new language of digital images.
The Image Network (TIN) was set up
to help businesses get to grips with
the new technology, and runs events
and training courses for people across
the industry - photographers, picture
libraries, publishers, design and
pre-press professionals. Courses scheduled
for this autumn are designed to bring
busy professionals up to speed with
the digital workflows in ways which
relate to the work they do.
Programme Manager, Sarah Saunders,
says:
"We created The Image Network
because we perceived the need for
training and discussion for both producers
and users of digital images. Businesses
are now realising that investing in
hardware and software is not enough
- people working with images need
to upgrade their skills to make it
worthwhile. Some companies are investing
large amounts of money in scanning.
In the course of our consultancy we
are seeing a lot of scans which are
not up to standard. It's important
that companies know how to assess
the scans they receive - and better
now than when its too late."
One-day courses on offer by TIN this
autumn are: 'Need to Know Digital
Imaging,' September 19; 'The Business
of Managing Colour,' September 23;
'Quality 'Control Saves you Money,'
October 9; 'How PDF can help your
business,' October 23.
