London, UK – 14 February 2013 – FOCAL International announced today that it had received a record-setting 224 submissions for its 10th FOCAL International Awards, which honours producers, filmmakers and other creative professionals who have used library footage in a documentary, feature film or any other form of production plus those with the skills to restore and preserve it. The FOCAL International Awards will be presented in association with AP Archive on the evening of the 2nd May 2013 at a glittering award ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel. Tickets are available now.
Over the last ten years, the FOCAL International Awards has risen to prominence in the world of stock and archival footage, as well as in the international production community at large. Submissions for this year’s awards came in from 18 countries across 18 award categories. A full list of all 224 submissions, synopses, and credits can be viewed on the FOCAL International website now.
“We’re thrilled with both the quantity and quality of this years award submissions,” said Julie Lewis, organizer of the awards and FOCAL International’s General Manager. “As a result, the various juries have had an agonising time deciding on their shortlist of three in each category. We will be announcing the final nominations at the beginning of March and then we look forward to the Awards ceremony on 2nd May which promises to be very exciting.”
The Awards evening includes a drinks reception, three course meal and after party. Ticket prices start at £90.00 per person for FOCAL International individual members, with tables of 10 available from £1000.00 to £1600.00 (all prices are quoted ex-VAT). Full details of prices and booking information can be found HERE!
In addition to awards recognizing achievement in a wide variety of production categories, awards for restorations of the world’s film and video archive heritage are also up for grabs, as are commendations for the skilled researchers, archivists, libraries and as always a Lifetime Achievement Award.
An additional feature during the ceremony day of 2nd May 2013 will be FOCAL International's What Is Restoration? Conference, supported by the British Film Institute (BFI). This will allow some submissions in the Best Restoration/Preservation categories, which have not necessarily been shortlisted, to be featured as case studies, and in some instances to receive separate commendation. The main awards in this, and other categories, will however be presented at the main awards ceremony.
Tickets to What Is Restoration? Conference can be found HERE!
