Well not quite!
At the recent FOCAL International AGM the FOCAL Executive welcomed back Angela Saward (below), Curator of Moving Images and Sound, The Wellcome Trust as a Company rep. She had served on the Executive in previous years when working at Film Images, so she is well acquainted with the organisation. Media Lawyer, Hubert Best of Bird & Bird was confirmed as the second Sponsor rep having been acting in the role since the departure of Bill Millington.
In her Annual Report, FOCAL Chair, Jane Mercer (below left) said that 2004 had been a very good year for FOCAL. Two items stood out as having helped to turn around the organisation's finances and improve its profile - the FOCAL Awards, and, bringing the website in-house. FOCAL's Administrators Anne Johnson and Julie Lewis were praised for their enormous effort to make this possible. Thanks was also given to Togo Keynes (top right) and John Richards (right) of TWI who both stood down from the Executive. Togo, who had worked on the Executive as a Company rep and John, who had acted as Treasurer, had both been instrumental in re-structuring FOCAL's finances and putting them on a sound footing.
(Left to right) Jane Mercer, FOCAL Chair, Barry Coward, Archive consultant and Jane Fish, Imperial War Museum enjoyed a light buffet lunch after the business side of the meeting was closed.
Attendees, amongst them (left) Amanda Huntley, MD Huntley Film Archives and (below) Véronique Foucault, Library Manager, APTN Library were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have a private view of the Museum exhibits.
Grateful thanks were given to Paul Sargent, Deputy Keeper Film & Video Archive, Imperial War Museum (below) seen here with Sarah McCormack, Business Development Manager, Open University Worldwide for hosting the AGM.
There was no change for Sue Malden, who was returned to the Executive uncontested. She represents Individual Members along with Belinda Harris. Meanwhile Karena Smith of ITN Archive and Rita Costantinou of ITV Sport Archive were re-elected to the two other Company positions that were vacant.
