My time is divided between BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts), where I act as R&D Business Manager, and The Media Institute (based at University College London), developing and managing R&D collaborations with commercial partners. For FOCAL Skills & Services - I am eager to help those holding or using moving image collections to migrate safely and economically to digital management.
At BAFTA I lead a new social enterprise commercial business unit, BAFTA Archive Research (see: ArchiveResearch.net). BAFTA has expert membership of 6,500 in the UK and US with collective experience across film, television and video games. The Academy identifies, rewards and celebrates excellence, and BAFTA Archive Research extends this commitment to technology product-service innovation. At The Media Institute (see themediainstitute.com or @mediainst on Twitter), based at University College London (UCL), I act as Partner Liaison Manager developing industry-academic research partnerships. My background is in "high tech high growth", with an extensive background in digital media business models, markets and technologies. I've led successful technology start-ups in the UK and US, one resulting in a full listing on the London Stock Exchange, and consulted with 90+ companies in 250+ projects in the field of media technology and business models, with a focus on digitization strategies and business process. My MBA was from London Business School, where I remain active on the Media Alumni Committee.
