Culled from a record-setting 239 submissions, Focal International announces the shortlist for its annual footage industry awards, celebrating achievement in the use of stock and archival footage across 18 production categories. Tickets for the Awards, to be presented in association with AP Archive on April 30, 2014, are now available.

London, UK – 5 March 2014 – FOCAL International announced today the shortlist of nominations for the eleventh annual FOCAL International Awards in association with AP Archive. The Awards honour producers, filmmakers and other creative professionals who have used library footage in a documentary, feature film or any other form of production. The FOCAL International Awards will be presented in Association with AP Archive on the evening of the April 30, 2014 at a glittering award ceremony hosted by television presenter Dan Snow at the Lancaster London Hotel. Tickets are available now.

FOCAL International received a record-setting 239 submissions from 19 countries for its 11th FOCAL International Awards.

“We could not be more pleased with the response to this year’s FOCAL Awards,” said Awards organiser Julie Lewis. “Once again we received a record number of submissions, and based on both the high volume and remarkable quality of the work, arriving at a shortlist of nominations was a very challenging assignment, for which we owe a debt of gratitude to our army of dedicated judges.”

Now in its second decade, the FOCAL International Awards has become an established stop on the international media awards circuit, as well a much-anticipated occasion within stock and archival footage community. These awards recognize the best use of footage in a wide variety of production categories, as well as achievement in the restoration of the world’s film and video archive heritage, plus other contributions to the advancement and use of audiovisual archives.
