Munich , 13 September 2007 – Framepool has entered into a sales agreement with AP Archive, one of the world’s leading archives for news footage. The collaboration was agreed between Alwyn Lindsey, Head of Video Archives, Associated Press Television News, and Dr. Stephan Bleek, director of Framepool AG.
Framepool has selected a large number of major news and entertainment stories from the film and video archive of The Associated Press (AP) and will offer them online to its clients in the corporate and advertising markets. AP Television News is the international television division of the world’s biggest and oldest news agency, AP, whose footage-archive has its headquarters in London and contains over 600,000 news and entertainment reports dating back to 1896. AP Archive, at www.aparchive.com, is one of the most important sources for footage for major news events such as the Kosovo war, 9/11, the conflict in Iraq and the Asian Tsunami, as well as major entertainment stories.
“We are delighted that we have been able to establish this collaboration – after all we complement each other perfectly.“ Dr. Bleek commented. “And it comes exactly at the right time as we are currently experiencing a great demand for both contemporary and historical news reports in commercial and corporate film.”
Speaking of the deal, Lindsey commented, “Framepool is seen as a prime source of moving images by advertising and corporate clients and their penetration into these markets will complement our own efforts as we continue to grow our footage business in all sectors.”
Framepool has made a selection of 50 hours of AP-material available online to ensure their clients’ instant and un-delayed access to these reports. It would take an immense effort and a huge budget to restage the emotional and often unique visual language of the reports. Hence producers will realise the distinct advantage of using the new Framepool source. Dr. Bleek, himself a film director, said: “From the start Framepool has set out to be a quick and efficient tool for all filmmakers. Our collaboration with AP Archive means a great step forward.”
FRAMEPOOL – The Stock Footage Collection
FRAMEPOOL was founded in 2001 as a joint project by the filmmakers Ulrike Ziegler and Dr. Stephan Bleek with the objective of providing filmmakers with an independent online-archive.
The young company has meanwhile evolved into one of the biggest portals for stock footage. Framepool uses the most up-to-date digital technology for archiving and presentation of its collection. Some 400,000 clips or 3,000 hours of commercial, documentary and historical material are available for downloading at www.framepool.com. With offices in Munich (HQ), London and Paris and an array of international partners and representatives, Framepool has a worldwide distribution. Moreover, Framepool plans to open a new office in New York next year. Dr. Bleek commented: “We already look forward to the enthusiasm with which American creatives will undoubtedly welcome our European collection.”
