Producers and filmmakers can now purchase high quality footage online and have it delivered to their desktop following the latest upgrade to ITN Source’s advanced digital website. This development confirms ITN Source as one the world’s leading providers of motion imagery – a one-stop shop for the broadcast industry’s video content needs.
From today, visitors to www.itnsource.com can browse, select, buy and download a selection of ITN Source’s digitised footage from the website. The volume of available content grows every day. Hundreds of hours of digitised content from the ITN and Reuters catalogues is also available to buy online, so customers download the latest dramatic scenes from global and national news. Creative users can enjoy the ease and convenience of searching from thousands of creatively key-worded authentic stock shots from the inspirational new Stock Footage section. These clips cover a variety of genres, themes and moods extracted from across ITN Source’s extensive collection of footage libraries, and all can now be purchased at the touch of a button.
Other new features give customers the unique facility of being able to self-edit clips so they are only charged for the exact footage they want to use. A simple online ‘pay as you go’ system enables the flexibility of buying digitised footage in 10 second blocks, and easy to use online clip pricing gives users the convenience of budgeting and self-servicing their own orders.
The e-commerce functionality is the latest phase in the ongoing development of the ITN Source website which began following a major company re-brand in 2006. As well as being able to view and download several hundred hours of recently digitised iconic content selected from ITN Source’s 800,000 hours of archive material, other exciting new features include Project Areas where customers can set up ClipBins for individual jobs. Customers can also send messages to their project partners, invite other users to view their selected footage, add comments and rate clips, making it the most advanced digital and user-friendly footage resource available.
Sue Thexton, Managing Director, ITN Source said, “This is a huge step forward in industry terms as customers will benefit from the simplicity, speed and convenience of high speed digital delivery, enabling them to deliver productions on time and within budget. This latest innovation marks the future in the provision of moving image content and ITN Source is leading the way. We are delighted to be the first to offer the global creative industry the complete ability to search for, view, download and now purchase the high quality footage they need at the touch of a button.”
Notes to Editors:
The system was designed by ITN’s in-house technology team and Sony provided detailed design and acted as system integrator to create Europe’s largest Digital Asset Management system (DAM). The DAM system can re-create clean video files from the MXF digital master held in the ITN Source library, into a variety of different digital formats (Windows Media, Quick Time and MPEG2) and quality as specified by the customer at the time of ordering. ITN also worked with LBi, Europe’s only complete full service digital agency, to create the e-commerce functionality and integrate the back-end archive databases, to make them accessible from a user-friendly online interface. www.itnsource.com is hosted by Globix.
