Travel back in time from the boulevards of 1920s Paris to the streets of San Francisco in the 60s or further afield to Palestine, the Far East or Pakistan.
The U.S-based Travel Film Archive is a collection of archival travelogues, educational and industrial films from around the globe. The films, many of them in vibrant colour, show the world the way it was between 1900 and 1970.
All of the footage was shot on film (much of it on 35mm) and so it is ideal for HD transfers.
Many of the films were shot by renowned travel filmmakers such as Burton Holmes, Andre de la Varre, and James FitzPatrick, as well as footage shot by many other itinerant cameramen.
Alison Mercer says “This deal is a real coup for us as the collection is a perfect fit with our other collections. It also underlines our commitment to providing archival footage of the highest quality to our clients. In a very real sense we are HD-ready”.
