BBC Motion Gallery, the archive clips sales arm of BBC Worldwide, today announces with a strategic alliance with CITVC, the commercial arm of China Central Television (CCTV) the country’s largest national broadcaster, to represent BBC Motion Gallery sales to Chinese markets.
Chinese broadcasters and media professionals will now be able to access BBC Motion Gallery’s wealth of high quality motion imagery via a local presence in CITVC’s sales offices. Visitors to the BBC Motion Gallery website (www.bbcmotiongallery.com) from China will be greeted with a Mandarin banner on the home page directing them to the CITVC sales office for guidance and assistance in accessing BBC Motion Gallery’s wealth of high quality motion imagery.
The deal is the latest partnership between BBC Worldwide and the Chinese state broadcaster. A successful distribution deal brokered in April last year saw BBC Motion Gallery distributing CCTV clip footage globally.
Simon Gibbs, Managing Director BBC Motion Gallery says “This deal is a great international step for BBC Motion Gallery. Getting closer to non-English speaking customers is an important part of our global strategy, making the access to our archive a seamless experience for all our customers. Having representatives on the ground in China is further testament to our position as leading global moving imagery archive.”
Madame Cheng Chunli, Marketing Director General, CITVC says ‘We predict a very healthy demand for BBC Motion Gallery’s extensive clip archive from broadcasters, ad agencies and corporations in China. The success of our content partnership last year has already proved to be very successful and we are delighted to be extending the relationship.”
