On the 26th of this month the waters off the coast of Australia play host to one of the world’s great ocean yacht races, the Rolex Sydney to Hobart. First raced in 1945 this annual Boxing Day event has attracted an internationally acclaimed line up for 2004. Two 98-footer entrants Skandia and Zana are expected to provide an interesting battle for first place over the 628 nautical mile course.
Did you know…
This year’s Masters Champion, Phil Mickelson, missed a putt for an unprecedented 58 but tapped in for a 59 – the best score in professional strokeplay history – to win the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Hawaii.
On the 3rd of December the Final of the Davis Cup, the premier annual international team competition in men’s tennis, commences between Spain and the United States in Seville. The Spanish team consisting of Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moya, Rafael Nadal and Tommy Robredo are favourites ahead of their country’s biggest final since 1954. The Europeans prefer the clay courts and Andre Agassi’s decision to withdraw has weakened the American team. World number 2 Andy Roddick, along with Mardy Fish and the Bryan brothers Bob and Mike, will represent the US. It is a fitting final for a fantastic year of men’s tennis.
John McEnroe, the United States captain played in the Davis Cup 12 times! That’s more than any of his fellow American superstars. From Seville to the Sydney Opera House, TWI has beautiful shots from around the world. Explore the world’s beauty with TWI Stockshots. For more information click here
