Following more than 33 years' service, Brian Phillips is to leave ITN Archive to pursue a new life in Ireland. Brian joined VisNews in 1971, which was later acquired by the Reuters Television Library, which in turn was moved to ITN Archive in 1998. Over this period, Brian has developed an enviable knowledge of cinema newsreel and television archive collections.
Paying tribute to Brian, ITN Archive's managing director, Alwyn Lindsey said: "Brian Phillips is a legend in the archive world and I'll be really sad to see him go. Not only is he a great personality to work with, he's a font of knowledge, hugely dependable and a fantastic researcher. He's made a superb contribution to the success that our archive business has enjoyed in recent years and his experience and passion for the business will be sorely missed by colleagues and clients alike."
Speaking of his departure, Brian said, "I have really enjoyed working in the Reuters and then ITN archive over the last 33 years and have seen many changes in technology and personnel in that time. I am looking forward to another 33 years of a variety of archive based projects or client research, which I will hopefully manage from my base in Western Ireland and am also looking forward to spending more quality time with my family."
Brian and his family will be relocating to the west of Ireland where he plans to offer his research and archive related project services on a freelance basis. His last day at ITN was Friday 29th October.
