The world’s largest music footage library, Reelin' In The Years Productions, has signed on to represent the Australian Broadcasting Corporation'sarchival footage collection of music and music performers.
Reelin’ In The Years Productions will represent the collection exclusively in North America and non-exclusively in the rest of the world except Australia and New Zealand, which will be handled by ABC Content Sales.
The ABC has an extensive music and performers collection. There are video recordings of orchestras, big bands, jazz, country, pop, hip hop and rock 'n' roll. There is rare material from the legendary Led Zeppelin alongside archival clips of the Beatles, the Bee Gees, AC/DC and Powderfinger.
The seventies and eighties Australian music show Countdown is the source of much of the ABC's contemporary music collection. However it has recently added over one thousand GTK clips, from the groundbreaking Australian music show of the sixties and seventies.
President of Reelin’ In The Years Productions, David Peck, said: “The ABC has some contemporary music footage gems, many of which have not been seen since first broadcast. We look forward to showcasing this exceptional collection to our extensive network of clients.”
Reelin’ In The Years Productions houses over 7,000 hours of performances from all genres of music covering the last 50 years. There are full-length concerts, in-the-studio live performances, interviews with performers, b-roll footage and radio performances.
“This relationship with Reelin’ In The Years Productions means that the ABC's eclectic archival music collection will be represented by a company completely immersed in the genre," said Robyn Watts, Director, ABC Enterprises. “We feel confident that this category of the ABC's footage collection will find new clients as a result of this representation,” added Watts.
