The world’s number 1, Roger Federer, continues his dominance of the men’s game with a total of eight singles titles to his name in 2004 with recent wins in both Hamburg and Toronto on the ATP Tennis Master Series. On the 18th Madrid plays host to the next round, with the likes of Lleyton Hewitt, Carlos Moya, Andy Roddick and Juan Carlos Ferrero attempting to defeat Federer, who is the favourite to win his ninth title of the year. In the Women’s game, October is sure to prove a challenging month for the top seeds with both Moscow and Zurich hosting top tier WTA events. The World number 2, Anastasia Myskina, will be attempting to defend her title on home soil in Moscow. Amelie Mauresmo, currently top of the WTA rankings will be trying to improve on last years disappointing 2nd round exit in the Swisscom Challenge in Zurich. Fast fact! – A very fast fact
Andy Roddick registered a serve of 155mph (249.4 kph) last weekend in the Davis Cup breaking his own record of 153 mph (246.2 kph). It is the third time Roddick has broken the world record this year. For more information on Davis Cup footage please click here.
