Video Content Deal Delivers High Demand Celebrity Content
BBC Motion Gallery, the clip sales arm of BBC Worldwide, announced today that it has signed a deal with Lightworks Program Distribution to distribute video content from The Hollywood Reporter, a Nielsen Business Media publication. Under the deal, BBC Motion Gallery will secure access to new and archived video clip content owned by The Hollywood Reporter from movie premieres, award ceremonies and celebrity interviews to distribute to its customers worldwide.
The Hollywood Reporter archive covers an array of Hollywood news – from celebrities receiving their star on Hollywood Boulevard’s Walk of Fame, to the opening of the latest “Batman” movie, to interviews with Brad Pitt and George Clooney.
The deal, which grants BBC Motion Gallery exclusive access to the content outside the U.S. and non-exclusive rights in the US, will make new footage available immediately for licensing. New content will be available for distribution 3-4 hours after filming and will feature an average of 3-4 new events per week.
Simon Gibbs, Managing Director, BBC Motion Gallery said: “Fascination with all things celebrity is at an all time high and The Hollywood Reporter is always right in the thick of the action. This deal gives us the perfect opportunity to target new customers in both the online and mobile world who require a fast turnaround of celebrity content.”
“We are pleased to extend our licensing relationship with Lightworks, and in turn, BBC Motion Gallery, to add even more opportunities to expand The Hollywood Reporter brand to our audience and clients around the world,” said Eric Mika, The Hollywood Reporter’s Publisher and Vice President, Entertainment for Nielsen Business Media. “This deal adds to our strategic relationships including Reuters and Yahoo!, which have established The Reporter as the most-widely distributed source for news about the business of entertainment.”
“We are so proud to be associated with BBC Motion Gallery, a truly prestigious organization known around the world for quality entertainment,” said John Cuddihy, President and Managing Director of Lightworks Program Distribution. “Lightworks has already been associated with the BBC through various high profile co-productions and now this new affiliation with BBC Motion Gallery, centered around dynamic video from The Hollywood Reporter, takes our relationship to its logical next step.”
The Hollywood Reporter delivers breaking industry news across multiple platforms and provides some of the most sought after red carpet video content in the world. The material is primarily sourced from Los Angeles with the focus on high-profile entertainment events, but also includes reporting on significant business deals across the country and around the world.
The addition of The Hollywood Reporter celebrity footage further strengthens the diverse Motion Gallery portfolio, which was recently bolstered by rarely seen content from key Prince’s Trust events including performances by Elton John, Mariah Carey and Jay-Z. As well as tens of thousands of hours of BBC sourced content, the company already offers clips from sources such as China Central TV, CBS News, NHK in Japan, ABC in Australia and The Commonwealth Games Federation.
As well as being available through the online service, www.bbcmotiongallery.com , all the new content will be available via BBC Motion Gallery's UK and international offices.
