We have just received the sad news that Christine Whittaker has died after a long and cruel illness – Parkinson’s, which she coped with so stoically.
Christine Whittaker - the ‘doyenne’ of British film researchers (The late Jane Mercer, former Chair of FOCAL International) for more than 30 years she spent defining – and indeed refining – the role of the film researcher in television production. Christine generously gave her time to do voluntary work with organisations such as FOCAL and IAMHIST, the organisation of which she was President for many years.
